Someone, anyone, needs to stand and be heard on the resolute injustice being perpetrated upon John Demjanjuk by our government. Now comes the German government, of all people, one who certainly ought to be embarrassed to even mention anything related to the holocaust, and wants to prosecute this man on 29,000 counts of accessory to murder.

STOP CONVICTING INNOCENT PEOPLE OF OVI!
Submitted by dconnor on Sat, 05/16/2009 - 16:59Keep Workers' Compensation State Funded!!
Submitted by dconnor on Tue, 01/27/2009 - 17:10Recently a national survey was performed which showed that members of legislative bodies, shockingly, were unaware of the most basic tenets of our governmental system, including provisions of Federal and State Constitutions. This has become painfully obvious recently by the antics of State Senator Timothy Grendell who wishes to "privatize" Ohio's workers' compensation system. In other words, instead of Ohio's workers' compensation system being operated by Ohio's state government, it would be operated by private insurance companies and thereby "keep the costs down" according to Grendell.
Judge Rules Breathalyzers Inadmissable
Submitted by mlconnor on Fri, 01/16/2009 - 08:56Manatee County Florida Judge Doug Henderson ruled a couple of years ago that any the results from breathalyzer machine Intoxilyzer 5000 tests were inadmissible in trial. Prosecutors since appealed but on Tuesday Henderson told lawyers that his ruling had been affirmed by the Second District Court of Appeal and Circuit Court. This ruling affects more than 100 drunk driving cases.
Obstructing Workers' Compensation Settlements
Submitted by dconnor on Mon, 01/12/2009 - 18:08Is it fair for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation to dismiss a settlement application filed by an injured worker simply because the employer objects to the settlement, even though it has no valid reason to do so? Under Ohio Law, when five years have elapsed after the date of injury, the case passes out of the employer's experience. This means that the employer is no longer charged premiums for any benefits or medical expenses paid to the injured worker or paid on his or her behalf.
Refuse the Breath Test!!
Submitted by dconnor on Thu, 01/08/2009 - 18:14I challenge the Dec. 6 Columbus Dispatch editorial demanding that the penalties for refusing a blood-alcohol breath test be toughened up. There are several reasons for my position.
First, alcohol breath tests are highly unreliable. Countless forensic journals have reported that the scientific basis for them is flawed. Further, the procedure in Ohio for keeping them in good working order is inadequate.
Drunk Driving Penalties Are Out of Control!
Submitted by dconnor on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 10:59Legislative bodies throughout the country, intimidated by certain well intentioned but misguided lobbying groups, continue each year to enhance the penalties for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. They forget that: "Ok, we get it already"!! Harsher penalties are not going to change public attitudes about drinking and driving. The point has been made. The public is well aware of the danger and the risk of drinking and driving. In fact, some studies show that the sense of the public has been deadened by the constant increase in the penalties.
Breath Tests Inaccurate!
Submitted by dconnor on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 16:48Well, the legislature is at it again. They will do anything to get their pictures in the paper or on TV regardless of the sense of the legislation. They continue to draft more and more legislation that is more and more punitive towards drinking and driving but they care not about defining who in fact are the culprits that society is concerned about.
